My philosophy of practice is that compassion is not an emotion. It is a style of action that starts with listening. Patients need a bigger role in medical decision making. They should be able to discuss their ideas with their doctor so that teamwork will happen.
Many Americans face an unhealthy future because of poor lifestyle decisions. I want to help them do better. Implementing lifestyle changes in addition to medication beats medication alone.
My biggest professional accomplishments are when patients do well.
As a family doctor, I do not specialize in one area. But I'm fascinated by the challenge of implementing cardiovascular disease prevention and finding better ways of communicating medical information in ways patients understand.
What I enjoy the most about working at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center is the quality of the doctors and their ethical conscience.
