Elizabeth Austin, CNM
She received a bachelor’s degree from Duke University and obtained her Master of Science in Nursing with a specialty in Nurse-Midwifery from Vanderbilt University in Nashville. Before moving to Columbus, she worked as a certified nurse-midwife at a federally qualified health center in Cleveland and attended births at a Cleveland Clinic hospital. Beth is excited to expand midwifery services at Ohio State and to increase midwifery care in Columbus.
She has special interests in contraception, teens and underserved populations. In addition to seeing patients at University Hospital East, she will also see patients at OSU Wexner Medical Center’s McCampbell Hall and at the Teen and Pregnant (TaP) Program based at Nationwide Children’s Hospital.
Patricia Dodge, CNM
Pat Dodge became a certified nurse midwife in 1997 after many years as a labor and delivery nurse. She studied midwifery at the Frontier School of Midwifery and Family Nursing and earned her Masters degree from Case Western Reserve University. She has been a longtime champion of midwifery and performed one of the first underwater births in Columbus in 1998. Her interests are low intervention birth, midlife health, and empowering women and families to be active decision makers in their healthcare. For fun she tends her vegetable garden, reads, helps out in her son’s cafe, and travels whenever possible.
Laurie MacLeod, CNM
She completed her undergraduate nursing degree at the University of Cincinnati and graduated with a Master of Science in Nursing with a specialty in Nurse-Midwifery from the University of New Mexico in 2006. She recently relocated from Albuquerque, where she worked in a private practice for the last seven years. She is excited about the growth of midwifery at Ohio State and looks forwarding to serving the patients in the communities surrounding University Hospital East.
Laurie has interests in educating patients on their pregnancies, providing access to contraception and supporting women in taking an active role in their health care. Laurie’s primary site will be University Hospital East’s Ambulatory Care Center. She will also see patients at OSU Wexner Medical Center’s McCampbell Hall and at the Teen and Pregnant (TaP) Program at Nationwide Children’s Hospital.
Cassandra Sampsell, CNM
Cassandra graduated from The Ohio State University with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 2005. She then worked at Ohio State University Medical Center as an RN in a variety of areas including labor and delivery. It was there she discovered her true calling, serving the women of our area throughout their lifespan. She attended graduate school at The Ohio State University and graduated with her Master's Degree and certificate in Nurse-Midwifery. Cassandra is very excited to join The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center.
Rebecca Wagner, CNM
Rebecca graduated from the University of Pittsburgh with a nursing degree in 1997. She then proudly served her country as an Army Nurse for 4 ½ years in a variety of locations. Her nursing experience is varied and includes labor and delivery and a visiting nurse to pregnant and new mothers. She then returned to school and graduated with her Master's Degree and a certificate in Nurse-Midwifery. She is excited about working with women in all stages of their lives and feels especially privileged to work with women through pregnancy and birth.
