About Me
I care for patients throughout their lifespan and enjoy helping my patients meet the challenges that each phase of life presents. My particular passion is helping to care for healthy families by providing health care to moms and babies and ensuring that pregnancies is are as healthy as possible. I specialize in treating complicated pregnancies and helping pregnant women with either pre-existing conditions or new disorders.
I also particularly enjoy working with adolescents and young adults who are impacted by a disease that started in childhood. In addition to treating them, I work on helping them navigate an often-complicated health care system.
In addition to my practice, I am heavily involved in research. I strive to continuously evaluate how primary care can be used to best treat patients with special and complex health care needs.
Currently, I'm the director of the Center for Health Outcomes in Medicine Scholarship and Service (HOMES), which centralizes a rich network of collaborators needed to conduct health outcomes research in internal medicine. My research has taught me that it’s important to communicate clearly and completely with patients. I want my patients to have ownership of their disease and understand it. When a patient visits me, he or she can expect to be listened to.
