Biography:

Stephen Thung, MD, is associate division director of the Maternal Fetal Medicine Division and associate clinical professor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., Dr. Thung earned his medical degree at New York University. He completed his obstetrics and gynecology residency training at New York University/Bellevue Hospital and his maternal fetal medicine fellowship training at Northwestern University in Chicago, Ill. Prior to joining Ohio State, Dr. Thung was associate professor of obstetrics and gynecology and the director of the Maternal Fetal Medicine Practice at the Yale School of Medicine. He also managed the Diabetes during Pregnancy Program at Yale. Dr. Thung has published on a wide variety of topics including diabetes during pregnancy, patient safety initiatives in Ob/Gyn, and most extensively on economic analyses and decision analyses. He has extensive multi-disciplinary NIH funded collaborations developing Screening, Brief Intervention and Referral to Treatment techniques (SBIRT) in the field of obstetrics and gynecology. He has authored and mentored a multitude of peer-reviewed manuscripts, chapters and abstracts with medical students, residents and fellows. Dr. Thung has earned awards at national meetings for his research in patient safety and prematurity. He has also earned multiple teaching awards.
