Sam Colachis, III, MD, is the director of the Spinal Cord Injury Rehabilitation Program and associate professor of physical medicine and rehabilitation (P M & R) at The Ohio State University Medical Center.
He also serves as the program director of the Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Residency Program at Ohio State. He has been recognized as one of the “Best Doctors in America” and “America’s Top Doctors” for more than 10 consecutive years.
Dr. Colachis earned his medical degree from the University of Southern California School of Medicine at Los Angeles in 1984, and completed his residency training in physical medicine and rehabilitation at Ohio State’s Medical Center in 1987. He completed a one year postdoctoral year in clinical neurophysiology. He is board certified in PM & R and received his subspecialty certification in spinal cord injury medicine in 2003.
An invited presenter on a variety of spinal cord injury rehabilitation topics, Dr. Colachis has published numerous abstracts, articles and reviews. He has provided expert review for several Clinical Practice Guidelines for the Consortium for Spinal Cord Medicine. Dr. Colachis is a Fellow in the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, and serves on committees for the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and the American Spinal Injury Association.
His clinical and research interests have included spinal cord injury rehabilitation, autonomic dysreflexia and electrodiagnosis.
