Ohio State physicians were the first in the country to perform surgery with the da Vinci® robot. Since then, OSU has pushed robotic surgery forward, exploring new surgical techniques and building a specialized staff that includes more than 25 surgeons who perform approximately 1,400 robotic surgeries annually.
Our robotics expertise in urology, gynecology, cardiac, thoracic, ENT, gastrointestinal oncology, and other specialties for both malignant and benign conditions, is unmatched in the region, and many of the most respected medical institutions across the nation look to us for robotic training.
Ohio State’s Center for Advanced Robotic Surgery is directed by Jeffrey Fowler, MD. As the Vice Chair of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Dr. Fowler is a pioneer in the use and expansion of the use of robotics to treat gynecologic cancers. Dr. Fowler is the most experienced robotic surgeon in his specialty in the state of Ohio.
