Ohio State's Richard M. Ross Heart Hospital is part of The Ohio State University Medical Center, one of the largest and most diverse academic medical centers in the country and the only academic medical center in central Ohio. We’re internationally known for our superior quality, range of services and depth of expertise. Some points of pride for the Ross Heart Hospital include:
- Home to central Ohio's only heart and lung transplant program. We are among fewer than 50 centers in the country designated as heart-lung transplant centers by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. Only two other hospitals share this distinction.
- First in the national to implant a device that provides around-the-clock, real-time monitoring of the heart through a small hand-held device. And we have one of the largest and most successful cardiac mechanical support programs in the country, currently managing patients with 10 different types of mechanical support devices including a total artificial heart.
- Designated Magnet hospitals – Ohio State’s Ross Heart Hospital and University Hospital – have earned the highest nursing award a hospital can receive for consistently providing the best patient care possible in a workplace where nursing is professionally practiced and highly respected.
- Training the next generation of cardiac experts who have the chance to learn in an academic hospital completely focused on heart care. Our physicians are also training their colleagues nationwide in new procedures, such as robotic surgery and minimally invasive techniques.
