Scientists of the Comprehensive Wound Center (CWC) publish several leading research papers every year. Our experts are invited to lecture on wound healing both nationally as well as internationally.
The CWC has three areas of emphasis in research:
Basic Sciences: including molecular, cellular and genomic sciences
Pre-Clinical Models: including experimental models that help bring products to the clinics
Clinical Studies: including experimental human studies and clinical trials. High monthly patient volume helps us conduct trials rapidly.
CWC has its own clinical trial management staff including dedicated research nurses.
Research is published in top journals including Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences USA, Molecular Therapy, Arteriosclerosis Thrombosis & Vascular Biology and Journal of Biological Chemistry. Dr. Sen is cited in the literature at an average of about 500 times every year.
Strategic partnership with the wound care management company Healogics Corporation helps us perform multi-center studies nationwide. Experimental therapeutics and evaluation of products used in wound care represent two major emphasis areas in clinical applied research. CWC closely works with over a dozen wound care product manufacturers, national and international, to test and improve their products.
CWC is an integral component of the new Center for Regenerative Medicine and Cell-Based Therapies at Ohio State.
