Heart Disease and Women Study

Cardiovascular disease or heart disease is more common in women over the age of 50 when compared to men of the same age group. Ohio State's Division of Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism and the Diabetes Research Center is looking for healthy postmenopausal women between the ages of 50 and 65 years to examine the effects of aspirin therapy in the prevention of heart disease in women.

Participants will receive a complete physical exam, blood work, a 2-D echo cardiogram and studies of the carotid artery to evaluate heart function. Participants will be given either aspirin therapy or a placebo. The study will last one year. If interested, contact Trudy Gaillard, study coordinator at 688-4184 or via e-mail at Gaillard.3@osu.edu.
