Mechanisms Underlying Impaired Diabetic Wound Healing

The Department of Surgery and college of medicine are conducting a study to understand processes that cause problems in the healing of wounds in individuals with diabetes.

Inclusion Criteria:

1) Adult chronic wound with wound VAC (defined as wound
    present > 4 weeks
2)  Wounds patients age 25-80 years old, with clinically defined
      type II diabetes. Well controlled diabetic with glycated
      hemoglobin (HbA1c <8%);
3)  Patients with II diabetes (clinically defined) and poor glucose
     control (HbA1c >8%)
4)  Normoglycemic/controls (patient without diabetes).
