Age-Related Macular Degeneration (AMD) Drug Comparison Study (Ophthalmology)

OSU’s Department of Ophthalmology is seeking patients with wet age-related macular degeneration (AMD). Qualifying participants must have untreated, newly diagnosed wet AMD as determined by an ophthalmologist or optometrist. This clinical trial is being conducted to compare two different AMD medications that have been approved by the United States Food & Drug Administration.  The study will also compare standard treatment schedules. Half of the patients will be treated on a fixed visit schedule and half will be treated on an as-needed visit basis. To determine eligibility, individuals will have a screening visit where they will be examined by a retina specialist in the Department of Ophthalmology. After the screening visit, there may be up to 20 follow-up visits that will take place over two years.

Additional information about this study is available on the OSU Department of Ophthalmology research page found at www.eye.osu.edu/research or by contacting Jill Salerno, study coordinator, at (614) 293-5287.
