Age-Related Macular Degeneration (AMD) Dosage Comparison Study (Ophthalmology)

OSU’s Department of Ophthalmology is seeking patients with wet age-related macular degeneration (AMD). Qualifying patients have untreated, newly diagnosed wet AMD as determined by an ophthalmologist or optometrist. This clinical trial is being conducted to compare different AMD medication dosages. A low-dose version of the medication has been FDA approved. This study will compare that low dose with a higher dose to see which is more effective. In addition to comparing medication dosages, half of the participants will be treated on a fixed visit schedule and half will be treated on an as-needed visit basis. To determine eligibility, individuals will have a screening visit during which time they will be examined by a retina specialist in the Department of Ophthalmology. After the screening visit, there will be up to 20 follow-up visits that will take place over two years.

Additional information about this study is available on the OSU Department of Ophthalmology research page found at www.eye.osu.edu/research or by contacting Jill Salerno, study coordinator, at (614) 293-5287.
