Staff Recruited to Ohio State Critical Care Program

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Four additional physicians have been recruited to the division of pulmonary, allergy, critical care and sleep medicine at The Ohio State University Medical Center. Joining the division are Drs. Michael E. Ezzie, Steven Kadiev, Troy A. Schaffernocker and Bryan L. Martin.

Ezzie is a graduate of Ohio State University College of Medicine. He completed his internal medicine residency and pulmonary disease and critical care fellowship at OSU Medical Center where he also served as chief resident in 2004 and 2005. He is board certified in internal medicine and pulmonary disease. His clinical interests include chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, pulmonary rehabilitation and critical care.

Kadiev received his medical training at the University of Witwatersrand Medical School in Johannesburg, South Africa. He completed his internal medicine residency at St. Mary’s Health Center in St. Louis, and completed his pulmonary disease and critical care fellowship at Ohio State’s Medical Center. He is board certified in internal medicine and pulmonary disease. His clinical interests include sleep medicine, critical care medicine and general pulmonary disease.

Schaffernocker received his medical training at Ohio State’s College of Medicine. He completed his internal medicine residency at Northeastern Ohio Universities College of Medicine and pulmonary disease and critical care fellowship at Ohio State’s Medical Center. Schaffernocker is board certified in internal medicine and pulmonary disease. His clinical interests include pulmonary disease, critical care medicine and sleep medicine.

Martin received his medical training at the University of Osteopathic Medicine and Health Sciences in Des Moines. He completed his internal medicine residency at William Beaumont Army Medical Center in El Paso and completed his allergy and immunology fellowship at Fitzsimmons Army Medical Center in Aurora, Colo. He is board certified in allergy, immunology and internal medicine. He is a retired Colonel of the Medical Corps in the U.S. Army. A member of many professional societies, Martin has received numerous honors, awarded several research grants and has published multiple studies in various peer reviewed journals.

The respiratory disorders program at Ohio State has again been named among the nation’s best in the latest survey conducted by U.S. News & World Report magazine, jumping 14 places to reach 27 on the 2008 list.
