The American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) has awarded Magnet Recognition for the fourth time to The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center’s University Hospital, Ross Heart Hospital, Brain and Spine Hospital and Dodd Rehabilitation Hospital.
Beacon
The Ohio State Wexner Medical Center critical care nurses provide the best care to our patients who need it most. That’s why five of our units have been recognized with the Beacon Award for Excellence – Coronary Care Unit, University Hospital MICU, James MICU, James SICU and Bone Marrow Transplant.
DAISY Awards
The OSU Health System has partnered with the DAISY Foundation, dedicated to honoring excellence in nursing, to present the DAISY Award. The DAISY Award was created to recognize nurses who treat patients and families with compassion, instill faith and hope in patients, exceed expectations by understanding and anticipating needs of their patients, and look for opportunities to create a welcome and special environment for patients. Each quarter, up to three Health System nurses will be selected to receive the DAISY Award.
MNRS Partnership Award
The Midwest Nursing Research Society awarded Ohio State the “Research Through Academic-Clinical Partnerships Research Interest Group Outstanding Partnership Award” to recognize the relationship between the College of Nursing and the Wexner Medical Center. In April 2018, The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center and The Ohio State University College of Nursing (CON) celebrated its long-standing, academic and clinical partnership as the 2018 recipient of the Midwest Nursing Research Society’s (MNRS) Research through Academic-Clinical Partnerships. Currently, the organizations are collaborating on nine research projects, which include research team members from both the CON and the medical center, 23 joint publications, and a combined eight national and international presentations have been delivered between 2014 and 2017. This award marks Ohio State’s second national partnership award, having first received the American Association of Colleges and American Organization of Nurse Executives Award in 2013.
PRISM Award
The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center is the first hospital in Ohio to have nursing units recognized by the Academy of Medical-Surgical Nurses with the PRISM Award. This designation provides special recognition of exceptional nursing practice, leadership and outcomes in hospital medical-surgical units.
Recognition for an exemplary Emergency Department
The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center’s East Hospital Emergency Department is the first ED in central Ohio to receive the Emergency Nurses Association Lantern Award.
This award recognizes exceptional patient care and innovative performance in leadership, practice, education, advocacy and research.
