Information for all CPE Applicants

All individuals applying to The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center CPE Programs should use the ACPE application form. Applicants should make sure to answer all questions completely and attach appropriate supporting documents. Residency applicants should note the requirements outlined on the ACPE application form for those who have completed a first unit of CPE. Mail or email completed application along with a non-refundable $25 application fee (make checks payable to: Wexner Medical Center Dept. of Chaplaincy and CPE) to Dept. of Chaplaincy and CPE 450 W. 10th Ave. Columbus, OH 43210. If CPE application is emailed, the application fee must be mailed to the Dept. of Chaplaincy and CPE and received before the application will be considered completed for review.

Residency Program Information

Residency applications may be submitted beginning in September; interviews are typically scheduled as applications are received and will continue until all positions are filled. Applicants must also fill out an online job application; information will be given about that process once the CPE application is received. The ACPE Certified Educators review all applications and make a determination about extending invitations for an interview. Given the volume of applications, not all applicants will be interviewed. Applicants for the Residency Program are required to have an on-site interview. Virtual interviews may be scheduled when onsite interviews are not possible. Once accepted, a few weeks prior to CPE program start date, residents must come to The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center for a security screening/background check, pre-employment physical, TB test and ID badge photo. The background check must be cleared satisfactorily or resident will not be permitted to join the CPE residency program.

Summer CPE and Extended Unit Program Information

An on-site interview will be expected for the Level IA Summer CPE Program and Level I Extended Unit Program. If distance prevents an on-site interview, a video interview can be scheduled. Once accepted, a non-refundable deposit of $100 is required to hold the student’s place. This deposit, plus the $25 application fee, will be deducted from the student’s total tuition balance of $700.00. The remaining balance of $575 will be due the first day of the program. Accepted students must come to Ohio State Wexner Medical Center 4 weeks prior to start date for a security screening/background check which must clear satisfactorily or student will not be permitted to enroll in the CPE program. Health screening requirements will be reviewed once a candidate is accepted and must be completed at least 3 weeks prior to program start date.
