Congratulations to Charlotte Clem, one of the patient care associates serving 11 East Rhodes, for being nominated and selected as one of this quarter's BUCK-I Award winners!
The Bringing the Utmost Care and Kindness to Individual patients (BUCK-I) Award recognizes Health System ancillary nursing staff (non-RNs who report to a nurse manager) for extraordinary acts of compassionate care they demonstrate in their work with patients. Winners of this award are known for exemplifying the mission, vision and values of The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center and truly making a connection with the patient and family through trust and emotional support, often going above and beyond the call of duty
"Everyday Charlotte comes to work she is ready to make each of her patient’s days.She is one of the kindest, most thoughtful PCAs I have had the pleasure of working with. We have a patient on 11ER that looks forward to every minute Charlotte works. Charlotte takes the time to make sure his general needs are met as his PCA, but then goes above and beyond to make sure his emotional needs are met. Charlotte talks with him about his younger days and his family, clips his nails, grooms his hair and makes sure he feels good about himself. She plays Bingo with him and even has prizes to give him when he wins that make him smile. When I was working with him for a PT session, Charlotte took the time to tidy his room, get his breakfast tray ready and made sure it was warm so when he was done with his therapy, he could enjoy his breakfast. When I ask him to share what he is most looking forward to – he always says “I look forward to Charlotte working and making my day bright.” When Charlotte is hosting multiple long term acute care patients in the Geriatric activity room, she makes sure that each and every one of them is having a good time. She has different prizes specific to each patient in the prize box and plays music that each of the patients likes.
